Budding BTX colt Jon Bon will grace the track for the first time on Saturday at Newcastle.

Following a nomination for a hotly contested maiden at Canterbury on Wednesday was declined due to unsuitable conditions, the team have chosen one of NSW Racing’s new Super Maidens as an ideal starting point for the charismatic son of So You Think. The race worth $60k has attracted an impressive field including 4 other debutants and will be a highly competitive race. Jon Bon will be ridden by one of the budding NSW apprentices in Amy McLucas allowing a 2kg claim on the horse where he will carry 54.5kg as representative stable jockey for the Waterhouse and Bott team. Whilst acknowledging the unsuitable distance for the colt, the team is happy he has built up a strong level of residual fitness that will put him in good stead to perform strongly on Saturday. All owners can now see their pre-race update from Gai Waterhouse in the BTX app and via email in preparation for Saturday’s run.

The Waterhouse and Bott team have an extremely strong team over the weekend, especially at Randwick where they will look to go back-to-back with Group 1 wins following Alligator Blood’s triumph last week. The team this week is headlined by Oaks favourites Tropical Squall and Summer Loving in the Flight Stakes, Converge in the Epsom Handicap and Caulfield Cup fancies Major Beel and Just Fine in the Metropolitan. The team also have two leading contenders, Hawaii Five Oh and Alcohol Free in the Premiere Stakes where a win or strong showing would solidify a place in The Everest in 2 weeks’ time.

Jon Bon’s shares are selling fast with the final 0.02% shares available from $235

First Nomination and 3rd Name as Fillies Pack Gains Momentum

The extremely popular BTX fillies pack, which offers 4 CMR trained horses is building momentum, with Until Valhalla twice nominated for Gosford maiden races on Wednesday the 4th and and our Kissy For Leslie filly named Think You Can.

Until Valhalla’s first nomination was for Goulburn on Tuesday, but the decision to retract that nomination in favour of the stronger races on Wednesday represents the confidence of the CMR team.

In further news the So You Think x Kissy For Leslie filly has officially been named Think You Can. Now into her first full training campaign, the team are intent on progressing her education and familiarity with routine, allowing the filly to progress mentally as she prepares for bigger targets in the autumn and following spring. The team are excited about her prospects and sees her as a potential filly to follow in the footsteps of So You Think Group 1 Schwepervessence heroine Sopressa.

The fillies pack is available from $310 and includes 4 horses with the Melbourne Cup winning team.

Broodmare Pack Jacquinot Insight

The only Group 1 Weight For Age winning 3-year-old of his generation, Jacquinot is one of the most well-credentialed stallions to enter the Australian breeding industry in 2023. It is a privilege for BTX to be able to announce his involvement in the BTX Broodmare Pack for 2024 where he will be covering not one, but two of our broodmares.

A Group winner at 2 and placed in the Group 1 Blue Diamond, Jacquinot went to another level at 3 defeating multiple Group 1 winners in the Golden Rose won on the weekend by Militarize and C.F Orr Stakes defeating champion milers Mr Brightside and I’m Thunderstruck. In total, he defeated 11 subsequent Group 1 winners in those two races including In Secret, Fireburn and She’s Extreme. By winning the Golden Rose he joined the likes of Zoustar, The Autumn Sun and Trapeze Artist among a littering of others. By winning the C.F Orr he joined the likes of Redoute’s Choice, All Too Hard and Black Caviar.

The two mares heading to Jacquinot at Widden Stud are Behaviourism and Flandersrain. Both are ideal matings both physically and on pedigree with Behaviourism’s muscular and more bulky frame suited to the more athletic Jacquinot. On pedigree it is an excellent outcross, providing fresh bloodlines that should be positively received by the Australian breeding industry.

Flandersrain is very similar, a good quality mare, whilst not overly big, the athleticism of Jacquinot will be highly beneficial to the resultant foal where a fascinating cross of Champion sire Encosta De Lago rates well on pedigree analysis statistics.

We are extremely excited for the resultant foals due in 2024 with only 2 more stallions due to be announced to non-investors over the coming weeks. The clues; a race record-breaking son of a champion and a Breeders Plate winner, by a Breeders Plate winner. The Breeders Plate for the most precocious 2-year-olds in NSW will be run this weekend at Randwick.
